CERTIFICATION
Board Certification in Podiatric Regenerative Medicine
Board certification through APBFRM recognizes physicians who demonstrate advanced knowledge, clinical skill, and ethical commitment in regenerative and biologic foot and ankle medicine.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold an active, unrestricted podiatric medical license
- Maintain good standing within their professional community
- Demonstrate formal training or substantial clinical experience in regenerative techniques
- Commit to APBFRM's Code of Ethics and Professional Standards
Your Pathway to Board Certification
American Podiatric Board of Functional & Regenerative Medicine (APBFRM)
Confirm Your Eligibility
To begin the pathway, you must:
- Hold a DPM degree from an accredited institution
- Have completed a recognized residency program
- Maintain an active, unrestricted medical license
- Carry professional liability insurance
- Be in good professional standing
Complete Required Regenerative Education
Within the past 5 years, you must complete:
- Minimum 20 hours of regenerative-focused CME
- One regional regenerative-focused seminar
- Participation in at least two hands-on laboratory sessions
Apply for Certification
Submit:
- Completed application
- Documentation of education and seminar attendance
- Payment of $995 certification fee
Once approved, you will be authorized to sit for the written examination.
Pass the Written Examination
The examination evaluates competency in:
- Regenerative science fundamentals
- Biologics and orthobiologics
- Shockwave therapy
- Laser therapy
- Photobiomodulation
- Peptides within legal scope
- Biomechanics and load management
- Ethics and regulatory considerations
- Risk mitigation and complication management
Submit 10 Clinical Case Logs
Applicants must demonstrate applied clinical competency through:
- 10 total case submissions
- Minimum 2 biologic injection cases
- Remaining cases may include but not limited to: shockwave, laser, peptides, PBM, or other regenerative modalities
- Each case must include diagnosis, rationale, modality selection, and outcome documentation
Achieve Board Certification
Upon successful completion of:
- Eligibility verification
- Required education
- Written examination
- Case review approval
You will be designated:
Board Certified – APBFRM
Certification is valid for 5 years.
Maintaining Your Certification
To remain certified:
- Maintain active, unrestricted licensure
- Remain in good professional standing
- Complete 30 hours of regenerative-focused CME every 5 years
No recertification examination required.
